Birdy, Birdy (to: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star") by Marie Y.(2005) Birdy, birdy, way up far How I wonder what you are. Hollow bones and feathered wings, Attracting mates as the males sing. Birdy, birdy way up far, How I wonder what you are. Birdy, birdy way up far, How I wonder what you are. Crop and gizzard to eat seed, Cloaca gets rid of what you don't need. Birdy, birdy way up far, How I wonder what you are.
Vertebrates (to: "I've Been Working on the Railroad") by Nadia L. (2005) I've been working on Biology all the live-long day. I've been working on vertebrates so I can earn an A. A frog is an amphibian and what about the crocodile? Did you know that a four chamber heart is inside this reptile? Bet you didn't know, Birds are aves, only verts with feathers. Or how about the newt, it has a triple life and its kind of cute. Something's in the Great Lakes bothering bony fish, Something came from the sea, I know.... The parasitic lamprey is a jawless fish With lots of sharp teeth in row. An opposum is a marsupial with a pouch like a kangaroo, Placental mammals are cats and dogs and people too.
Who Am I? by Holly M. (2005) I'm a mammal with a coat of hair, reddish-brown is the color I wear. I have hind legs that are really strong, And big wide feet that are super long. I can up up to 40 miles per hour, Or jump 30 feet using barely any power. I spit on myself to cool down when my body gets hotter, But I can actually go months without water. I'm an herbivore and eat all green leaves in sight, I'm also nocturnal and come out at night. I have a huge pouch to grow my baby strong and tall, Joey is what my baby is called. You can find me in the outbacks or in a zoo, Can you guess?.... I'm a kangaroo.
Bob the Bird by Ren H. and Michael D. (2005) Once there was a bird named Bob who was in a rock band, When they went on tour over the ocean, he could drink the water because of his salt gland. He was the lead singer of the band because he was a guy, And since he had hollow bones, he could really fly. On the night of the concert, the woodpecker drummer could not play, Cause his tongue swelled up and could not cushion his brain. Also the altricial bird guitarist was on maternity leave Because she had baby birds that she had to feed. In the end, the band broke up because as it turns out... Birds of different feathers don't flock together.
to: Wouldn't It Be Nice" by Tom A., Lauren S., and Jess D. (2005) Wouldn't it be nice if we had pouches to carry our babies within. We could go about our daily business, And not worry about our children. You know we could if we were kangaroos, I would be one if I could choose. I wish we could eat some leaves and shoots, And do several months without a drink Hopping nearly forty miles per hour That would be so perfect, don't you think. You know we could if we were kangaroos. I would be one if I could choose. Wouldn't it be nice to have great vision Able to see thing just when they move Swivel our ears in different directions Of that I would greatly approve. You know we could if we were kangaroos. I dould be one if I could choose. Wouldn't it be nice!!!
